Featured Keynote Speaker: Professor Jan Tytgat
The International Congress on Natural Products,
Botanicals & Herbal Drug Discovery (NP Discovery 2027) proudly welcomes
Professor Jan Tytgat from the University of Leuven, Belgium, as a
featured keynote speaker at this premier international congress.
Professor Tytgat is internationally recognized for his
pioneering contributions to pharmacology, toxinology, peptide therapeutics, and
natural product research. His keynote will provide valuable scientific insights
into how traditional medicinal plants continue to inspire innovative therapies
for complex chronic diseases.
This keynote presentation will examine the therapeutic
potential of medicinal plants, plant-derived bioactive compounds, and novel
peptide therapies for managing Type-2 Diabetes and Alzheimer's disease.
Professor Tytgat will discuss phytochemicals such as curcumin, ginsenosides,
EGCG, cinnamon compounds, and walnut-derived peptides, alongside emerging
peptide therapeutics including GLP-1 receptor agonists and other innovative
drug candidates.
The session will also highlight the growing scientific
evidence connecting diabetes with neurodegenerative disorders and explore how
translational research is accelerating the development of safer, more effective
natural product-based therapeutics.
About Professor Jan Tytgat
Professor Jan Tytgat serves as Full Professor and Head of
Toxicology & Pharmacology at KU Leuven, Belgium. After completing
his Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and PhD in Physiology, he
undertook postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School.
With over 380 scientific publications, several books,
an international patent, and numerous scientific awards, including the International
Redi Award (2024), Professor Tytgat continues to make significant
contributions to pharmacology, toxinology, peptide drug discovery, and
biomedical research.
